Highways to Hell and the Pathway to Life: The Abortion Religion and Its Defeat

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live: that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days.

The world, the devil, and all the powers of the flesh and darkness are joined together for this reason – to shed the innocent blood of children.

The recent leaking of Supreme Court draft documents has again brought to light the abomination of the world’s religion of death.  Couched in the euphemisms of “a woman’s right to choose,” “human rights,” “healthcare,” and other similar terms, the demonic practice of child murder is being promoted like never before by the Roman Catholic president of the United States, his vice president, and governors, senators, and countless groups across the country. This again begs the question, why? Why are there riots in the streets to promote murder? Why are the highest officials of the land promoting murder?

The answer lies in the spiritual realm.

Two Spiritual Conditions

Throughout the Bible the Lord presents just two spiritual conditions into which all people fall: Each person is either saved or unsaved; walking in light or walking in darkness; on the highway to hell or the pathway to life; lovers of life or lovers of death; haters of God or servants of God. Myriad descriptors present only two options for man, life or death.

Life

In order to live, God tells us we must choose life (Deut. 30:19). These two words have  been used as a rallying cry for the so called “Pro-Life” movement. In its Scriptural context, it has little to do with abortion and everything to do with faith in Jesus Christ. The life we are called to choose is the life of blessing, the narrow way through the narrow gate, the truth, the solid foundation. Life is not an idea or an action; the life of Deut. 30:19 is a person. “Therefore choose life… that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life.”

This is just what Jesus says in John 14:6: “I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me.”

As the LORD calls us to choose life He calls us to believe, have faith, and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation so that we might have everlasting life through Him. The Jesus Christ we are called to trust is the God Man in whom dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. He shed His own blood and died, so that His children might have life and live. Choose life means simply this – repent of your sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation and you shall be saved.

The preacher of Proverbs sums it up this way, “For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD” (8:35). This is one spiritual state of man – the man that has found Christ and eternal life in Him. In this state, as a servant of the living and true God, this man sets himself to serve and glorify his King. The result is that [both he and his] descendants may live.

Death

There is the second condition – it is the condition of those who hate life, light, and truth. They are those who love death, darkness, and lies.

The preacher said, “All they that hate me love death” (Proverbs 8:36).

Many have foolishly believed that through reason, science, speeches, and laws, they can persuade the followers of death that life is good. What they fail to grasp is that those outside of Christ are not just prone to sin and evil, they love it. Those that hate Christ love death.

The apostle puts it this way, they not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them (Romans 1:32). The wicked glory in your flesh (Galatians 6:13). They love the shedding of innocent blood. They delight in sending their children and, if they could, your children to the slaughter. As the Christian delights in serving the living and true Lord with all his heart, soul, strength, and mind, so the wicked delights to serve sin and death with all his heart, soul, strength, and mind.

Why are the wicked rioting, threatening, enraged by a draft ruling from the Supreme Court that does not prohibit abortion but turns it over to the states to regulate murder? Because they perceive their religion and way of life is being somehow attacked. Like the silversmiths of Ephesus they sense that their religion of death could be endangered. So they cry out like the Ephesians long ago, “Great are the reproductive rights of America!”

The Supreme Court Draft

Some Christians have thought that if Roe v. Wade were overturned, abortion will become illegal in the United States. While the draft opinion may not ultimately be the final ruling, while the judges may change their vote, while Roe v. Wade may continue to stand, it must be stated that even the Supreme Court draft opinion does not affirm or defend life.

Justice Alito wrote the summary on page 6 of the draft:

It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives. “The permissibility of abortion, and the limitations upon it, are to be resolved like most important questions in our democracy: by citizens trying to persuade one another and then voting.”

The only question at the Supreme Court level is this: Should the judicial branch of the federal government have power to regulate the murder of children or should the states have that power to themselves?

Over 63,000,000 lives murdered under the law and the Supreme Court is not stopping that practice nor saying it is against the “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness” we supposedly believe to be self-evident truths. Rather, the Supreme Court says the issue of child murder must be decided by the voters of each state. On a smaller scale than 63,000,000 could the voters decide to liquidate Reformed believers, euthanize the old and disabled, or exterminate minorities?

The intention here is not to criticize Justice Alito or the Supreme Court in their legal decisions, per se. The point rather is this – the Supreme Court is not the Supreme Judge, is not life and cannot give life. Christians must pray for our courts, pray for our leaders, we are called to do this; but life for us and for our children is not found in a system, court, or constitution. Life is found in a person, Jesus Christ, the Lord and giver of life.

They want to kill your children!

In recent years we have seen business and political interests combine to promote new ways to destroy life. If they cannot get every child in the abortion holocaust, they can try to destroy them with transgenderism and the homosexual agenda. They want your surviving children to claim a deadly identity for themselves apart from God and in full communion with death.

Disney and various media have made it their mission to glorify the devil by trying to convince your living children to reject the glory of God and claim for themselves something altogether abhorrent in God’s eyes. They want your sons to profess themselves to be women. They want your daughters to profess themselves to be men. They want your children to cast off the Creator and worship and serve the creature. In the current famine of the Word of God and its preaching, tragically they are finding remarkable success. If they cannot murder the children, they will work to convert children to the “gay agenda” and they are doing it (The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus).

The religion of death is awake and active. If it could, it would even swallow up the Christian. But our God is more powerful and provides the remedy to such folly.

The Remedy

1. Do not be ashamed of the Gospel of God concerning Jesus Christ. It is, was, and always will be the power of God unto salvation. It must be preached, proclaimed, and protected. God will give His Word success and bring those in the clutches of death and darkness to the glorious light of the Kingdom of His dear Son our Lord.
   
   
2. Defend earnestly the faith once delivered to the saints and passed down to all generations through the church. This Christian faith presented in the Word of God is that which must be known, believed, and defended with our lives. In the Bible alone Christ the Savior is revealed, who is the sole Deliverer from the wrath of God to come upon lovers of death.
   
   
3. Preach and teach the Word. Cease preaching man and politics. No more setting affections upon mortals and courts of men. It is high time to preach the Word. The church is starving from lack of food. Send the church preachers who are ministers of the Word and the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ the Lord.
   
   
4. Love God so much that you reprove, rebuke, and exhort in all righteousness in season and out of season that not one of the flock would be deceived and go to hell on account of vain teaching. The glory of the gospel in all its power must be proclaimed — that Jesus Christ reconciled sinners to God by shedding His own blood and dying on a cross, was buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures. Proclaim this message!
   
   

Parents, this message is for you. The world is out to kill your child. From the womb to old age, they want you and your child hoping in the flesh and finding at the end the reward of the flesh, which is death. Teach your children. As the Lord provides opportunity tell the truth to the world.

In the meantime, the end of all things is at hand. Christ is coming. His return will be sudden, surprising, and swift. On that great day when the Lord of Heaven and Earth calls you to account for bringing your daughter for an abortion, for not calling your homosexual or crossdressing child to repent, if you tell the Lord Jesus Christ it was because you wanted to support, love on, and accept your child, you will find that those excuses will not stand.

May God forbid that any of our children would be lost to the world, but many have felt this grief. And amid that sorrow, we must teach our children and the world the truth. We call them to repent and believe in Christ. And above all else we plead with God for them through prayer, without ceasing, night and day, crying out to God who hears, knows, and helps! Lord, be merciful to us sinners and to all sinners! Save now, we beseech thee, O God!

Let us stop all friendship with the world, the flesh, and the devil, and determine today with as much as lies within us and in dependence on the work of the Spirit to help us that we will lay aside every weight and care of the world and press on to the goal of the high calling of Christ.

The Lord is coming soon – now is the hour to go into all nations with the message that darkness has been conquered by the Light, death has no more dominion but has been defeated by the Life Giver. Tell them to “Choose Life!” Tell them to repent of their sins and believe on the Lord! In so doing they will find life and hope, blessing and joy; for life is not found in an idea or an action, but life is a Person, and His name is Jesus Christ.
