“Out of the mouth…” Guest Devotional

Published by Ben Stahl on

(While working on devotional #40 this past Sunday afternoon, my nine year old son joined me at my desk to write his second devotional. Only a few grammatical changes have been made for ease of reading. Lord willing, the I Kings series will continue tomorrow.)

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

John 1:4

Now you are probably going to ask who is “Him”. “Him” is referring to Jesus Christ. If you read my first devotional you might know who Jesus Christ is but some of you might not know because on my last devotional I explained about God. But don’t get confused because Jesus Christ is God.

Now it says in “Him” was life. Why does it say that? Well because God i the life. How can God be the life? Well because He is the creator. I did explain this on my first devotional but I will explain it again for those who did not read it. The Creator is the Creator of the world and everything on it and even outer space.

So next it says, “and the life was the light of men.” Now what does this mean? So we know who the life is but why does it say “and the life was the light of men?” The life that was God shines light. Before the light there was darkness.

Now when I talk about the darkness I mean sin. What is sin? “Sin is any want of conformity unto or transgression of the law of God.”

Keep preaching Jesus Christ, Isaiah. You are doing great at it already, at 9 years old.

Thank you, Isaiah, for your well written devotional that clearly points us to Jesus Christ…. our Creator and Saviour! I am thankful that Jesus Christ is my Savior…and yours, too! May you continue to “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”
